My journey started in geology, where I quickly realised that earth sciences didn’t spark the same passion as understanding the human body. That’s when I pivoted to health science, and everything clicked. I found myself truly excelling in this field, drawn to the idea of combining science with helping people live better lives.
The turning point came when I discovered podiatry—something I hadn’t initially considered, but once I learned about it, I knew it was exactly where my interests and strengths intersected. Podiatry was the perfect blend of hands-on care, problem-solving, and sports medicine—areas I was deeply passionate about. I loved the idea of working with people to improve their mobility, whether it was helping an athlete recover from an injury or treating someone struggling with foot pain in their everyday life.
One thing that really sticks with me from my career so far is the moment I became endorsed to prescribe scheduled medicines. It was a huge milestone, and a huge benefit to this further education it has deepened my understanding of complex foot and ankle issues, and it really solidified my passion for helping people at a holistic level. But beyond the technical skills and knowledge, what motivates me most is the connection with the community and the patients. Every time I see someone walk out of my office pain-free, or return to their favorite activity after an injury, I’m reminded of why I do what I do. It’s the people—their stories, their progress—that drive me to keep learning and growing as a podiatrist.
Joining SEPA was an easy decision for me once I discovered an organisation dedicated to sports and exercise podiatry. Since joining, I’ve made invaluable connections through the CPD events they offer, which have played a key role in developing my clinical skills and expanding my networks.
